Retirement Financial Planning

Have you considered how you will support yourself
financially once you are too old to work? What about dependents and
loved ones who may also rely on you?
Retirement is a period in life to be looked forward to and enjoyed, but for many it is accompanied by a dawning realisation that they don't have a clear retirement plan in place to generate an income for those golden years.
Some may not have saved enough, others may be simply unaware of how much they have or how much they will need to generate an income. If you are left short in retirement you could be pushed to great lengths such as selling the family home in order to live comfortably later years. Generally speaking the sooner you start retirement planning the better prepared you will be for when that big day comes.
There are many different ways to plan financially for retirement and you may want to consider a number of things including the following:
- Have you found the best option/s for your needs when it comes to saving and investing for retirement? Are there other options available that could generate better growth?
- Are you already contributing to a pension scheme? Do you know the likely size of your pension pot when you retire, and the level of income it is likely to generate?
- Do you have the best pension scheme appropriate to your needs?
- How will you go about converting your pension fund into a steady income when you retire?
- Have you factored in what will happen in the event of you need long term care? You may need to adapt your retirement financial plan accordingly.
These are just a few of the questions you may wish to discuss with a financial planning advisor if you have not yet reached retirement.
Financial planning for those already retired:
Planning does not have to end once you reach the age of retirement. For example you may still wish to seek finanical advice on investing for income or managing your assets even after you have reached retirement.
For help with planning you finances for or in retirement it may be worth seeking independent financial advice. An independent advisor will take your personal and financial needs into consideration and form retirement financial planning tailored to your exact circumstances.
