Civil Service Pension

Civil service pensions are provided for those working in the civil service in the UK.

Civil servants, or public servants, are public sector workers who are employed by a government department or agency. Civil servant do not include those working in the armed forces. If you are a member of the civil service you will have the option of joining one of several different pension scheme sections, all of which offer different benefits.

There are five different sections of civil service pensions in total, these are:

  • Classic
  • Classic Plus
  • Premium
  • Nuvos
  • Partnership

Which one suits you best will depend on your own individual circumstances. The partnership pension scheme is where you take out a stakeholder pension to which your employer will make contributions of at least 3% of pensionable earnings.
