The fund currently invests around 70% in a well diversified portfolio of fixed interest securities and holdings of cash and money market instruments. The balance is invested in UK and international shares, property and alternative assets.

Mr Smith chooses to invest into the PruFund Protected Cautious Fund. His Guaranteed Fund Value is calculated as £50,000. If at the fifth anniversary date the value of the PruFund Protected Cautious Fund is

£45,000 then the Prudential will restore the value of the fund back up to the Guaranteed Fund Value of £50,000.
